Location, Grounds and Lobby

This A-frame shaped resort was ahead of its time when it opened in 1972.  Back then, it was a bold new concept and felt like it was way ahead of its time, the resort of the future.  One of the most innovative features of the design is the monorail track that runs right though the resort.  There is a express monorail that does not stop as well as the regular resort line that does.  The monorail station is on the 4th floor of the resort with shops and restaurants and has the feel of being in a station in a small city. Please click on the link above for more information about this innovative resort.

The Contemporary Resort has 655 rooms.  There are 4 accessible rooms with roll-in showers and 2 with tubs in the main tower. There are also 3 rooms with roll-in shower and 4 with tubs in the Garden wing annex.  I was not able to take my own pictures of the rooms but the Cast Members emailed me photos to use on this website.  Unfortunately, they only had photos of the Bay Lake tower.  This facility is connected to the main resort by a walking bridge and was designed for Disney's Vacation Club Members (DVC), but the rooms are also available to everyone. Click here to read more about it.   There are 5 accessible rooms with roll-in showers and 9 accessible rooms with tubs. I will be adding the photos when I can.   If anyone happens to stay at the Contemporary Resort (the main building), please take pictures and send them to me.  I will post them here as well. Thanks!  I did get some nice shots of the lobby, please enjoy.

The First floor houses the main lobby where the check-in desk is and it has two accessible desks on each end. These entrance & Exit doors lead to the buses and a walkway to the Magic Kingdom. This exit leads to the Bay Lake Tower (you can also get to the tower on the 4th floor), the Marina and the Garden rooms. Elevators are in the middle of the A-shape building and easy to access. Here check it out by clicking on the photo below to veiw the Pictures Gallery.
